Smoke in Your Eyes

Took another admiring look today on the most beautiful Web site I have seen.

Although I oppose the use of text as GIF images, the visuals are great. And there are no conjuring tricks, just plain-vanilla HTML 3.2. The site was made back in 1996, but still stands out. I think what pleases me is the spacious design, the subdued colours, and the Bauhaus-like four rectangles, softened by a nice photo (from a stock catalogue) that yields depth to an otherwise flat design. The only really bad idea in the site is the use of a wedge (>) in the interior pages to separate the links. It looks like a "trail" but isn't.

This will inspire the next redesign of my homepage.
