shopping for a coffee machine

When my coffee maker broke, everything went dark. Literally.

The cord was broken, causing a grounding failure that triggered the grounding protection for the entire house.

Actually, I've been looking forward to the oppurtunity to buy a new machine. I love my coffee, and have wanted a machine that is certified by the European Coffee Brewing Center. For some reason, I really feel the right water temperature (92-96°C) and the brewing time (4-6 minutes) will improve my daily life.

What a disappointment, then, that the most interesting page of the ECBC web site, the coffee maker test, returned a 404. A search on Google returned a couple of dozen sites, all linking to the same missing page!

Luckily for me, nothing is ever erased from the web (almost). I found the URL the pages had linked to, and entered it into Google's search field. When Google returned the result, I clicked "cached".

From Google's old copy, I learned that one model from Kenwood and all Moccamaster's models are approved. We bought the Moccamaster KBT741. Today, it's brewing Kagongo from Kenya.

Now, a new page with approved models has appeared, and a Nordica model has been included.
